The Board will
refund 50% of personal expenses for recreational and cultural
activities to a maximum of $100 per year, according to
the budget set by the Board, on a first-come first-serve basis,
providing the following criteria are met:
a. The activity is performed at a recognized recreational or
cultural facility within Red Deer County, including all
hamlets, villages, the City of Red Deer and the towns of
Innisfail, Penhold, Sylvan Lake and Bowden, or at a
recognized community facility such as a community centre,
hall or school;
b. The activity promotes fitness, sportsmanship, skill
development in a craft or hobby, community spirit or cultural
awareness;
c. The activity normally
involves more than one person;
d. The activity is outside of the home;
e. The activity is not primarily for entertainment purposes;
f. The fees for such activities are for registration, supplies,
skill development in a craft or hobby or other unusual
out-of-pocket expenses that are not normally available from
other sources. It does not normally include equipment or
clothing for such activities.
The Board will consider a refund of 50% of personal expenses for
recreational and cultural activities to a maximum of $100 per
year on a case-by-case basis at the Board's discretion for
similar types of activities outside the County or if the
activity is particularly unusual but promotes fitness,
sportsmanship, skill development in a craft or hobby, community
spirit or cultural awareness.
The Board will NOT refund 50% of personal expenses for
activities that could lead to a career or other profitable
enterprise. In addition, the refund will NOT be available for
program registrations that are compensated by other means
including those programs that are funded by the Board.
Movie passes, concerts, dinners, equipment, fund-raisers, transportation,
sight-seeing or similar types of activities will not normally be
part of the refund program but may be included in special
activities arranged by the Board.
Please note: There is a limited budget set aside for this
program. Funding will be provided on a first come first serve
basis. Once the budget has been reached, there is a strong
possibility that no further requests will be accommodated. So,
don't wait until the end of the year to submit your requests --
you might be out of luck! Furthermore, please don't expect
immediate reimbursement. The board only meets every 2 months.
Applications for 2012 expenses are now being accepted. Claims
for 2011 are now closed.
